Dear Residents and Families of Kumeu Village, The Ladybug and Kingfisher House,Notification of Price Change – effective July 1st. At Kumeu Village Group we strive to offer the best care available for our Residents. We are fortunate to have a dedicated and committed workforce who have continued to provide this service over the past year. This again has been a challenging year with recruitment and retention of staff – combined with outbreaks of Covid in the community and village. We continue to try and make our residents and staff as safe as possible through the use of PPE and screening of visitors. A large proportion of our overheads at our homes relate to Staffing, Rent, Utilities, Consumables and Food. We are all aware of the current inflation rate ( quoted as 7.2%), but unfortunately this does not reflect the actual costs passed on by many of our suppliers. We have looked at all discretionary spending at our villages and any spend that does not add value to our Residents wellbeing, health and enjoyment has been critically reviewed. We want to make sure every dollar that we receive is used effectively. To continue to provide innovated health care solutions at the highest level, we need to make sure our business is both sustainable and has the ability to maintain standards that our residents deserve. As a result of these considerations, this letter is to advise that we will be increasing all Premium Room Rates for residents by 7.5% as of July 1st 2023. The annual review and adjustment of the Department of Health fees, are also due at this time however at the time of sending this letter we have not been advised of the actual rate of increase. We will advise you of the Actual Rate of increase as soon as we have the details. This Increase will also take effect from the 1st of July 2023. If you have an automatic payment set up, please remember to change it. Should you have any questions which relate to the above, please feel free to call me, or any accounts related questions please contact Julie – our Accounts Manager ataccounts@kumeuvillage.co.nz NEWSWe now have a Direct Debit payment facility, which enables Kumeu Village Aged Care Limited, with your authority to debit your nominated bank account directly for invoices issued. Families and Friends Update
Dear Families and Friends We are sure you will be wondering what the change to ‘Red’ under the Governments Traffic Light system means in terms of visiting your loved ones. The good news is that nothing significant has changed, guidance for Aged Residential Care facilities state that all visits need to be by appointment, you need to show evidence of your vaccination status or a negative test within 72 hours of your visit, wear a mask and preferably the visit should be outside (Pergola area at Kumeu Village), if this is not possible then please stay in the residents room. Please do not spend time in communal areas inside, if you need assistance, please ring the bell in the room to alert staff. All visitors must scan in for contact tracing purposes at the main reception area (families with loved ones in Kumeu Village) – and complete a temperature and symptom check on arrival. Resident outings and short stays with family/ whanau can occur and visits should be limited to places with vaccination certificate requirements or outdoor areas and follow all public health measures. Children may visit residents outside only. Booster shots: Booster shots were provided to most eligible residents on 20 January (Kumeu Village) with the remainder scheduled for 26 January and 9 February. Ladybug residents received their booster shots 19 January. While in a general sense the situation is less than ideal, on a positive note nothing significant has changed regarding visits or taking your loved ones out.
Families and Friends Update
Dear Whanau and Friends We have had several queries following the most recent update advising you that a negative Rapid Antigen Test is required for all visitors to enter the facility. We can now confirm that this applies to all facilities, Kumeu Village, Ladybug and Kingfisher House. RAT kits are available for the public to purchase from pharmacies (such as the Chemist Warehouse) and other retail outlets. Please see the following link: https://www.health.govt.nz/covid-19-novel-coronavirus/covid-19-health-advice-public/assessment-and-testing-covid-19/rapid-antigen-testing?fbclid=IwAR0D5IogS5YvniKUuVf32lDujZCOMZyKpg2wWO_O2XScBrLZyUaaFG3QsD4#general_public RAT testing needs to be completed in your car 15 minutes before your visiting time. If you test negative, please bring in the kit, show the front desk team and discard the kit in the bin provided. As mentioned, we are currently in discussion with the DHB about this requirement and we will update you should there be any change. We are doing everything we possibly can to keep our residents (your loved ones) and our staff safe. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation in advance. On behalf of the Management Team.
Matariki Day Celebrations
Hi everyone! My name is Alex, I’m the new activities coordinator at the Ladybug Today we celebrated Matariki by bringing the stars to our lovely ladies. We talked about the past, present, and what we are grateful for looking towards the future. We ended the day singing some lovely waiatas and dancing together. It has been so amazing getting to know them and I can’t wait for more happy days
