About Us

Kumeu Village Ownership and Management

Nestled in the heart of Kumeu wine country, overlooking Kumeu River Winery and surrounded by picturesque grounds, Kumeu Village is a rest home with a difference. We don’t just care for our residents – we’re on a mission to provide a real home, rich with experiences and companionship.

Kumeu Village is a true community where our elders can live active and varied lives complete with autonomy and dignity. Our Home is privately owned by Belinda Brice and John Kraft, and the home is managed by Belinda Brice. Belinda has lived locally for more than thirty years, now living with her family in Coatesville. John lives with his family on the North Shore.

Our home is managed by our Clinical Leadership team who are all registered nurses: Daulette De la Cruz – Director of Nursing, Esther van Diest – Quality Manager/RN and Rita Li – Clinical Coordinator. Esther originally comes from the Netherlands where she worked in the Dutch Village, and Rita brings 10 years of aged care experience. Daulette, Esther and Rita have decades of experience offering the best resident-centred care to our Elders.

What Makes Us Different

We are very proud of our staffing ratios at Kumeu Village – we provide over 100 care staffing hours extra per day than what is required by the DHB. We are more than happy to show you our roster and are extremely proud that we can provide this level of care to our Residents.

Choices are also very important to us – choice when it comes to what the Resident wants to eat and when, our Kitchen is equipped to provide something extra if you don’t like what’s on the menu for the day and you can eat at whatever time of the day you please. We also have a full cafe with items that are prepared daily from scratch by our Cooks and Bakers, so that visitors can enjoy a meal with Residents too. The choice to sleep-in and stay up late too! There are no set ‘bedtimes’ at Kumeu Village.

Our Management Team – we have a team of five managers who are available 24/7, we pride ourselves on having an open door policy for Residents, Families and Staff and our Reception is happy to help for any queries.

The Eden Alternative – we operate under the Eden Alternative philosophy. We offer in house training and some of our key staff have completed 3-day Eden Associate training.
